Fire ripped through a home in the Four Seasons neighborhood near Glasgow on Friday afternoon, injuring a firefighter and causing $150,000 in damage.
The fire began around 2 p.m. in the unit block of Sunny Bend, officials said. Arriving firefighters reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the home.
Firefighters from Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company, Christiana Fire Company, Singerly Fire Company, Volunteer Hose Company and Wilmington Manor Fire Company worked to extinguish the fire. The University of Delaware Emergency Care Unit and New Castle County Paramedics also responded to the scene.
One firefighter was taken to Christiana Hospital to be treated for minor burns to his ears and face.
The residents of the home, two adults and two children, are staying with relatives.
Investigators determined the fire was sparked by an oven that overheated during the cleaning process and ignited grease, according to Chief Deputy Fire Marshal Robert Fox.
