The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company is mourning the passing of its Deputy Fire Chief Thomas "Tommy" Jones. The department made the announcement of Jones' passing on Sunday, and issued the following statement via their website where they asked for all of Sussex County to keep them in their thoughts and prayers. "It is with a heavy heart that the officer's and members of the Greenwood Vol. Fire Co. regret to inform that Deputy Chief Thomas "Tommy" Jones has passed away on Feb. 18, 2018. Once Funeral arrangements have been made they will be posted. Please keep the Jones Family along with the membership of the Greenwood VoL Fire Co. in your thoughts and prayers." Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced, and the cause of death remains unclear.
