One Dead Following Early Thursday House Fire in Milton

Multiple fire companies responded to a fatal house fire in Milton early Thursday morning. The fire, which was reported shortly before 5 a.m., occurred at a two-story home in the 28000 block of Fisher Road. The Lewes Fire Company assisted by the Milton and Rehoboth Beach volunteer fire companies arrived on scene, to find fire showing from the structure. According to a firefighter on scene, after the flames were put out, a body was found inside the home. There is no word yet on the victim's identity. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office and Delaware State Police are conducting a joint investigation into the fire. A preliminary investigation reveals that there is no suspicious activity indicated at this time, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office.
