An apartment building was deemed uninhabitable late Tuesday night, after a fire touched off inside the bedroom of one of the units, the Wilmington Fire Chief reported.
Officials indicated that fire crews responded at approximately 10:07 p.m., on July 10, 2018, to the 3100 block of West 2nd Street. Upon their arrival, they reported fire coming from the roof of one of the structures.
As a crew from Engine 6 began to knock down the blaze--which was found in the rear bedroom of a second floor apartment--crews with Squad 4 and Ladder 1 searched the apartment of origin, and neighboring units, for residents.
Officials said that firefighters were able to mostly contain the fire to the bedroom where it touched off, with only minor extension to the attic and roof areas. The attic of an adjacent apartment building also sustained some damage.
