Man, 19, fatally trapped in burning wreck on Route 202 in Talleyville

A young man was the lone victim of a single vehicle crash on Concord Pike in Talleyville early on Monday morning. Delaware State Police announced the death of the 19-year-old resident, from Pennsylvania, following several hours of investigation at the crash scene on Route 202, just prior to Rocky Run Parkway. According to troopers, the teenager was driving a Mazda MZ3--around 3:24 a.m., on July 16, 2018--when, for an unknown reason, it left the northbound lanes near the Widener University Law School entrance. The car initially struck a wooden fence before it collided with a tree, reported police. It then rebounded back into the right lane of norAn attempt by two passers-by to remove the man was unsuccessful because of the extreme heat of the fully engulfed vehicle, troopers said. The identity of the victim, whom EMS pronounced dead at the scene, was being withheld pending notification of his family.
