Delaware State Police have identified the victim in a weekend crash in Millsboro as 66-year-old David Barry of Eden, chief of the Allen Volunteer Fire Company. He was in his third year as chief, said Bert Widdowson, who works for the fire company. Barry previously held the rank of chief before taking a position with the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company, but eventually returned to serving in Allen. "Anything he could help anybody with he did," Widdowson said. Barry was dedicated both to his community and to fire service, he said, and will be greatly missed by many. Services for Barry are still being arranged. Police said he was headed north on Millsboro Highway just after 1:15 p.m. Sunday when a 48-year-old Laurel woman driving in the opposite direction turned left directly in front of his vehicle.
