A Christiana Fire Company ambulance collided with a car Thursday while taking a patient to the hospital for a medical emergency. The crash occurred at the intersection of Salem Church Road and East Chestnut Road in Newark around 3:15 p.m., said Fire Chief Rich Perillo, but the cause of the accident is still unknown. The patient was not injured as a result of the crash, and was transported by an additional ambulance to Christiana Hospital, Perillo said. A care provider riding in the back of the ambulance sustained a minor head injury and was treated at the hospital as well, Perillo said.
