An Odessa house fire which caused $250,000 in property damages Thursday afternoon was ruled accidental that same day, according to the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office.
Authorities said a home in the 900 block of Lansdowne Road in the Will Grove Mill Townhouse community caught fire just after 1 p.m. on May 3, 2018, due to some discarded smoking materials thrown into a mulch bed, which caught fire and spread to the siding. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the middle town home in a row of residences. The fire extended to the roof.
There were no injuries, and the homeowner and neighboring residents are being assisted by the Red Cross of Delmarva.
