Damage is estimated at a couple hundred thousand dollars after a fire broke out at a barbershop early Tuesday morning in downtown Milford. Around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, crews with the Carlisle Volunteer Fire Company received reports of a working alarm fire at a commercial-residential building on Northwest Front Street in downtown Milford.
Carlisle Fire Chief Rick Deputy said when they first arrived there was heavy fire coming from the back of the building, stemming from a barber shop located on the first floor. "We had heavy fire coming out of the rear of the structure. It's a three-story structure with multiple apartment units, and it also has some businesses in the lower level," Chief Deputy explained. "There's a barbershop in the rear of it and that's where the bulk of the fire was contained. It basically burnt the first and second floors on the rear-end of the structure."
