An injured worker on a ship at the Port of Wilmington was rescued by Wilmington firefighters Saturday. A report of an injured worker on a ship in Berth 6 came in around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, city fire officials said. Rescuers lowered a type of stretcher called a Stokes basket 35 feet below decks so they could hoist the worker out of the vessel. EMS personnel took the worker to Wilmington Hospital. There's no word yet on the nature of his injuries or his condition.
