The Nov. 8 fire near Long Neck that officials estimate led to $1.5 million in damages to an apartment complex under construction was intentionally set and is considered a criminal act of arson, officials said Thursday. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed any activity during the above date and time to please contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Sussex County Division at 302-856-5600 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333. Due to the ongoing investigation, details are being withheld, according to a Thursday press release from the office. The fire, which occurred at about 9:22 p.m., destroyed the Carillon Woods Apartment complex under construction on the 34000 block of Harvard Avenue in Long Neck — although the mailing address is Millsboro.
