The Delaware Fire Marshal's Office says discarded cigarettes led to an apartment building fire that injured four people and displaced more than a dozen residents. The fire at the Rockwood Apartments in Bear was reported shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. The fire marshal's office says the cigarettes ignited mulch and bushes on the side of one of the buildings. Flames then shot up the exterior into the attic. Four people were checked out for injuries and two were transported to Christiana Hospital. A total of six units were damaged in the blaze with fifteen people being assisted by the Red Cross.
