Delaware's 61 volunteer fire companies meet this time every year for their annual conference. They're networking, discussing the finances, and attenditng educational seminars on topics such as PTSD but this year, hurricane preparedness was also up for discussion. Every volunteer fire company in Delaware is represented at this conference but they're all still monitoring Hurricane Florence. 2nd Vice President, Jay Jones says, "This may not necessarily be a seminar on the hurricane preparedness, but that's one of the things we've always prepared for and we always gear up for so back at the stations, we're fully prepared up and down the state, especially in the coastal areas for whatever may happen." "The companies right on the bay, they've had some minor flooding earlier this week from the rain and the east wind, but they'll be staffing the fire station 24 hours a day until everything calms down," says Vice President, Bill Betts.
