Summit Bridge Road crash north of Middletown seriously injures one

A 45-year old Newark man was seriously injured in a head-on crash between a pick up truck and a tractor trailer on Summit Bridge Road north of Middletown. The wreck occurred shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2018 just north of the Marl Pit Road/Armstrong Corner Road intersection. Delaware State Police say the pick up was northbound and for an unknown reason crossed the double yellow line and into the path of the big rig. The driver of the pick up was trapped in the vehicle for nearly half an hour before being removed by firefighters from Volunteer Hose of Middletown fire company.
