Pedestrian struck and killed walking along road outside Bear

A 54-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle outside Bear Thursday night. According to Delaware State Police, the pedestrian was walking along U.S. Route 13 near Federal School Lane when he entered the roadway around 9:58 p.m. on January 10, 2019, and was struck by a 47-year-old man from Bear in a 2014 Chrysler Town and County. The vehicle stopped at the scene, and police said the driver wasn't speeding or impaired. Police added there were no marked crosswalks of pedestrian crossing signals in the area of the accident. The pedestrian was not wearing reflective clothing or carrying a light, police said. Other factors are still being determined, and his identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
