One person was taken to the hospital with burns after a house fire in Laurel Sunday afternoon, according to the State Fire Marshal.
The fire was reported about 2:25 p.m. in the 200 block of West Tenth Street.
Firefighters arrived to find a wood-framed, single-family home in flames. The occupant, a 75-year-old woman, was able to get out of the house but was burned. First responders found her in the driveway, according to the Laurel Fire Department. She was first taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later admitted to the Chester Crozier Burn Center in Pennsylvania.
At this time, it is unknown if the house was equipped with working smoke detectors, the State Fire Marshal's Office said.
The fire was placed under control about 4 p.m. An investigation into the origin and cause of the blaze is ongoing.
