The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a pair of house fires on Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024, in New Castle County.
The first fire was reported on Frazier Place in Collins Park just after 5 a.m.
Arriving units reported flames from the front of the house. No injuries were reported in that incident.
Then around 7:15 a.m. a fire was reported on Augusta Drive in Chestnut Hill Estates near Ogletown with the possibility of a person trapped.
New Castle County police officers were first on scene with two victims already outside the house. They said an officer went inside to make sure the first floor was clear.
Aetna firefighters then arrived with mutual aid companies to fight a basement fire.
New Castle County paramedics treated a 71-year old man and a 66-year old woman for smoke inhalation before they were taken to Christiana Hospital in serious, but stable condition.
