Local authorities arrested a Tarpon Springs firefighter on felony grand theft charges Tuesday and another was placed on administrative leave in relation to the case. The city and Fire Chief Rick Butcher released a statement at 4:49 p.m. announcing Clifford Dancy’s arrest and the suspension of Michael Greenlee. Dancy, with Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue for nearly six years, was arrested after a Tarpon Springs Police investigation determined that he stole prescription medication from Greenlee’s private bunkroom locker. The press release states that Greenlee reported the incidents to superiors and was subsequently placed on administrative leave “pending an investigation into actions he may have taken while on duty in relationship to this incident.” According to the police report, Dancy entered Greenlee’s living quarters on three different occasions and stole 14 1/2, 15-milligram pills of Dextroamphetamine, a drug commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. After being read his Miranda rights, Dancy admitted to taking the medication.
