An encounter between Delray Beach firefighters and a homeless man Friday morning turned into an act of kindness. While speaking to the man outside Fire Rescue station 111 in the 500 block of West Atlantic Avenue, two firefighters noticed the man was wearing socks that were wet and full of holes. One of the firefighters retrieved some of his extra socks and gave them to the man. The department shared the moment on it’s social media page. County officials recorded fewer homeless persons during a federally mandated count conducted in January, but noted more veterans and families without a place to live.
