After five months of searching, Jackson County has hired a new fire chief.
At Tuesday's board of county commission meeting, a unanimous vote to hire Charlie Brunner for the position, was made.
In high school, Brunner started his career as a volunteer fire fighter for the city of Marianna.
Following that he graduated from the EMT and fire academy at Chipola College, he worked as a firefighter, EMT with Jackson County for eight years.
He then moved on to becoming a lieutenant for Bay County EMS division.
Brunner said he is excited to be starting his thirteenth year of service for the community in which he was raised.
"It's a great opportunity for me to see these citizens first hand and manage the department," said Charlie Brunner, Jackson County fire chief.
