Five fires in 13 months have aroused paranoia among residents of a tucked-away mobile home park in Volusia County’s southernmost city and suspicions from investigators.
One of the fires, which destroyed a single-wide trailer the evening of Nov. 4, 2017, at 152 West Loop, was declared “incendiary in nature” and state arson investigators are looking into it, said Lance Tomkins, a spokesman for the Florida Division of Investigative and Forensic Services, which oversees the Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations.
Another fire that took place five weeks earlier at 145 Center St. has stumped fire officials.
