The city of Cape Coral has bolstered its public safety division, as Cape Coral Fire Station 11 opened Wednesday morning on Burnt Store Road North.
This is the first new fire station in the city since 2009, and it will help improve response times to the nearly 11,000 residents in the area.
"With the growth of the city that we've seen, we've added about 50,000 people during that time (since '09)," said Cape Coral Fire Department Chief, Ryan Lamb. "This station is needed to provide services to the northwest side of the city. We've seen a continued amount of growth in this area. This was an area we struggled to provide services to from our existing stations - this is about five miles, roughly, from those other areas. This is an area we feel much better about now, having this station and response available."
