On September 14-15, sixteen Martin County firefighters joined nearly 150 firefighters from around the country to compete in the Firefighter Combat Challenge in Fort Pierce. With both individual and team events, this competition encourages firefighter fitness and showcases the extreme skills needed to be a firefighter. Training and competing on their own time, Martin County's participants put themselves to the test, while racing against competitors and the clock. While wearing full gear, they performed a series of five tasks including climbing a five-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing a life-sized, 175-pound “victim." We're so proud of all our Martin County firefighters and can't wait to cheer on those who qualified for the upcoming World Competitions.
