Fire chief calls on Collier County to regulate storm shutter use due to safety concerns

"I want to thank you for working with us in a proactive fashion to get the word out on this," Kingman Schuldt, Fire Chief of the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District said. A Collier County Fire Chief is calling on his county commissioners to make a change following an NBC2 investigation. Greater Naples Fire Chief Kingman Schuldt is pushing for an ordinance or regulation that would require homeowners to take down their storm shutters 30 days after a hurricane passes or 30 days after hurricane season wraps up.The push comes two weeks after an investigation uncovered that both Lee and Charlotte County have rules in place, but Collier County does not.
