Firefighters from four different departments put out a garage fire on Cedar Key early Wednesday morning. Firefighters responded at 2:41 a.m. to a call about multiple structures on fire in the area of 2nd and F Streets. Police arrived and evacuated nearby homes after they saw flames coming from a 2,500-square-foot garage with an extended roof and pole barn. They say a second, smaller garage was also beginning to burn while two large homes were exposed. Firefighters say they secured the homes and attacked the fire. Once it was out the homes sustained minimal damage and the small garage had minor damage on the back corner and door. Firefighters say the large garage was a total loss. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state fire marshal's office thought firefighters say it appears the cause was accidental.
