Cobb County could move one step closer today to replacing a fire station that dates back to the 1960s. Cobb commissioners will consider today spending $526,500 to buy 5 acres of land at 850 Hurt Road — located northwest of the intersection of Hurt and Hicks roads and north of the East-West Connector — for a new Fire Station 7. The new facility would replace the existing Station 7, which is right at the northwest portion of the intersection. Cobb County Fire Chier Randy Crider said the new station is needed to replace a facility that has come to the end of its useful life.
