Clarkesville Fire Department announced Thursday afternoon it has received a more than $27,000 grant that will be used to purchase rescue equipment. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded the department a grant to purchase new extrication equipment. The equipment being purchased will be the eDraulic line of tools manufactured by Hurst. The eDraulic tools do not require external power units or hoses to operate. That feature will allow the tools to be deployed in areas that were not accessible due to restrictions caused by either the power unit or the hoses. Faster deployment is a benefit of these tools as well.
