An unoccupied house caught fire around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the 800 block of South Lee Street.
There were no injuries reported, according to city officials. The total damage estimate is $21,000, and the Valdosta Fire Department Fire Marshal Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
The Valdosta Fire Department responded to the fire within four minutes and reported heavy smoke and flames visible from the roof area, according to city officials.
VFD personnel fought the fire and searched for any possible occupants. Officials determined the house was unoccupied and vacant.
The report states fire was under control within 13 minutes of the first VFD unit arriving on the scene. There were a total of 14 fire personnel on the scene.
Valdosta Police Department assisted with traffic control, and South Georgia Medical Center EMS provided firefighter support services. Georgia Power responded and secured all electrical utilities.
