Bibb County fire crews are battling a house fire in west Macon. The home is near Nisbet Dr. and Chambers Rd., near I-475 and a Walmart. As of 6 p.m. firefighters were still putting out hot spots and making sure the fire was fully extinguished. Officials also have streets blocked off in the area as crews keep working. Drivers should find alternate routes. Fire officials said they got the call around 5 p.m. Monday and said the fire took up to 20 minutes to get under control. The home's occupants were reportedly out of the structure by the time authorities got to scene, and no injuries were reported. Officials said the fires origin/cause is still under investigation.
