The Flovilla Fire Department is celebrating a milestone — collecting the most money, per capita, in donations to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation boot drive.
The department was recognized Feb. 6 at the Georgia state Capitol on Firefighters Recognition Day. Firefighters with the department collected an average of $1,370 per firefighter during the Give Burns the Boot campaign in 2017.
The Butts County Fire Department was also recognized for collecting the second most per capita in donations, at more than $631 per firefighter.
The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation performs fire safety and prevention education, supports medical facilities and assists burn survivors in recovery.
