Gold Cross currently handles ambulance service in Richmond County, but last week a committee suggested exploring other options.
By opening the “zone”, as they call it, other EMS companies could take over if it’s approved. But Gold Cross has been responding to those calls for five years.

“The fuel behind all this is that the city voted to get the zone. They used to be the zone provider and the city wants the responsibility of being able to set standards,” explained James.
