A mother and son escaped from a house in Northwest Albany after it went up in flames Tuesday afternoon.
Crews from Albany Fire Department and Dougherty County EMS helped put out the fire in the 1200 Block of 10th Avenue, just off North Slappey Boulevard.
Carroll Zombro, resident, says his bedroom was completely covered in smoke, but luckily he and his mother were able to exit safely.
Zombro says he was sitting out on the porch when his mother came out to ask him to fix the microwave.
"The microwave quit working, I flipped all the breakers, see if one of them was tripped, and wasn't' none of them tripped," says Zombro.
