For the second year in a row, the Georgia Police and Fire Games are calling Dalton home, bringing in hundreds of former and current public servants for a week’s worth of competition and fellowship.
“It is all fun and games as long as you win,” said Dalton Fire Department Chief Todd Pangle. “The games are meant for fun, but if you find a firefighter that isn’t competitive by nature, they aren’t going to be a firefighter for long.”
Event founder and committee president James Perry said as of last week more than 400 competitors from around the state had signed up for events that continue through this Saturday. Perry said he hopes to top 500 by the end of the week.
