Gray Fire Department Fire Chief Max Wood was fired Wednesday morning in a unanimous vote by city council. The council appointed Keith Eisele as interim Fire Chief. Councilman Terrell Fulford -- who is also chair of the Public Safety Committee -- told WGXA the decision to fire Wood comes after years of miscommunication and troubled relationships between city and county fire departments. Fulford added now is the time to work on a better relationship. He also confirmed there are concerns that need to be looked into, including: Fire trucks/other equipment running in the station, smoking in the station, non-department employees accessing the station, communication issues.
