Gwinnett County firefighters battled a house fire on the 2080 block of Fence Road in Dacula Wednesday night that displaced the residents from their home. The fire caused heavy damage through the roof. The occupants said they “saw an orange glow and smoke come from under the kitchen door” and immediately retreated out of the home. When fire crews arrived, they found heavy fire involvement at the two-story wood-framed single family residence. Flames were showing on the back left side of the house which is where the kitchen is located. Fire officials said they believe that is where the fire originated. Multiple hose lines were quickly deployed as an aggressive fire attack ensued. Within 30 minutes, the crews had made a complete knock down on the fire. Fire officials said there were no injuries as three adults, one child, and a dog were out of the home when crews arrived. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants.
