Cobb County firefighters have to be ready for anything.
On Tuesday, that meant staging a dramatic rescue of a wooden horse.
When a person in Cobb County gets into a tight spot, whether stuck at the bottom of a ravine, trapped in floodwaters or mired in deep mud, the fire department calls in the Technical Rescue Team, 36 specially-trained firefighters who can use ropes, harnesses and other special equipment to rescue victims from nearly any situation.
That team is also called in when a large animal like a cow or horse gets into trouble, and they are joined by Cobb County Animal Control and the Large Animal Response Group, or LARG, a nonprofit volunteer group that cooperates with the department.
