After Hurricane Michael tore through the region last week, people in the Florida panhandle are working to recover. But local fire departments in the area needed help. Some of their neighbors to the north in Georgia answered the call. Five members of Company 83 in Alpharetta and about 15 other firefighters from Georgia went to Panama City this past weekend to help people there in their recovery efforts. The firefighters cut down trees, removed debris, assisted in tarping and boarding and delivered supplies. Company 83 posted photos of its work to its Facebook page on Monday. “The pictures do not (do) justice to the level of destruction in the area,” the post read. “We did what we could but there is a lot of work left to do. Please pray for the Florida Panhandle.” Hurricane Michael was a Category 4 storm when it made landfall in Florida last Wednesday. The eye of the storm hit land just east of Panama City Beach.
