Multiple units of the Albany Fire Department battled a house fire in the 5400 block of Old Dawson Road. That home is now unlivable after fire ripped through it Monday morning. Albany Fire fighters got the call around 8:45 for a house fire, but an AFD captain says the fire was extinguished by 9:20. No one was home at the time, but the family's pet bird did die in the fire. The fire began in the first floor of the home and smoke spread to the second floor making the home unlivable. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
