Firefighters rushed to West Oahu Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out at a pig farm. The call came in at around 2:13 p.m. from Kapiki Road in Nanakuli. Eight fire trucks and 21 personnel responded. According to fire officials, the blaze burned in an open storage area. Crews declared the fire under control at 4:13 p.m. and extinguished it by 5:53 p.m. No homes were threatened and no people were hurt, but a dog died in the fire. The fire caused $20,000 in damage to items and $5,000 to a pig pen. Its cause remains under investigation.
