The U.S. Coast Guard says the search for a missing Hawaii Army helicopter has expanded to as far as 50 miles offshore Thursday due to the water currents in the area. The UH60 Black Hawk helicopter went down about two miles west of Ka'ena Point Tuesday night. Five Army aviators are missing. Helicopters and vessels are concentrating efforts 15-to-20-miles offshore. On the second day of the search-and-rescue, debris continues to be spotted and recovered off Ka'ena Point. Ka'ena State Park trails are closed at this time. Debris from the crash should be considered hazardous material and should only be recovered by recovery teams with the proper training and personal protective equipment. The debris poses potential risk and could cause serious bodily harm due to sharp edges.
