A giant boulder came crashing down a Manoa hillside Thursday night, leaving residents shaken at the frightening experience.
"I heard a series of crashes and each crash, immediately I knew what it was after 2, and I was hoping that each one would stop and then 5 or 6, everything was quiet," resident Art Whistler said.
It happened around 7 p.m. The boulder rolled down the hill near a gated community called the Manoa Hillside Estates.
A Honolulu Fire Department spokesman described the boulder as oblong and about 4.5 feet long and 3.5 feet wide.
Luckily, no one was injured. The massive rock did however crash into a patio at a home on Kalawao Street.
Honolulu firefighters responded however they reportedly couldn't do much.
The homeowners will likely have to hire someone to remove the boulders and repair their properties.
HFD said a smaller, bowling ball-sized rock hit the roof of a home, damaging three or four tiles.
This area is known for rockfalls. The city typically follows up by sending inspectors to make sure the hillsides are stable.
