Police have arrested 2 people in connection with the latest fire to burn in Leeward Oahu Wednesday afternoon. Police say a man and a woman were taken into custody following the fire. Arrest logs identify those two as Shannon Kepa, 37, and Brian Daite, also 37. They were arrested on suspicion of arson in the second degree. The fire broke out after 4 p.m. and prompted the complete shut down of Farrington Highway between Kahi Mohala and Kualakai Parkway. The closure was reported just before 5 p.m. Honolulu firefighters responded and quickly worked to get the flames contained. The fire scorched two acres and was fully extinguished by 8:45 p.m. Fire investigators responded along with police and the suspects were arrested. This is the second brush fire to burn in the Kapolei area this week.
