Honolulu firefighters responded to a 2-alarm building fire in Kalihi late Sunday night. The two-alarm fire was reported around 10:15 p.m. The fire was located on Wilcox Street. Ten fire units with 39 personnel responded to the fire. The first crew on scene found an abandoned one-story single-family home in flames and emitting smoke. Fire officials say squatters are known to frequent the structure and it is unknown how long the building has been abandoned. The fire was extinguished by 10:50 p.m. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and it remains under investigation. Fire officials have not released the damage estimates for the fire.
