Police Officer and Firefighter of the Year Awards were handed out Monday night, honoring Officer Conrad Bidal and Firefighter/EMT Kainoa Willey.
Heroic efforts in a commercial business fire in Puna, plus investigative skills and daily work, earned Officer Bidal rights to the title.
Firefighter Willey is not only recognized for his work at a Firefighter/EMT in West Hawaii, but also for volunteer work on numerous fundraising efforts for Fire Department Personnel in need of financial assistance due to injury, illness or traumatic events.
The awards were presented by the Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawaii.
