A brush fire near Honokai Hale temporarily shut down westbound lanes of Farrington Highway Wednesday morning, according to Honolulu police.
Approximately 20 Honolulu firefighters responded to the brush fire just before 8 a.m.
The fire and heavy smoke caused both westbound lanes to be blocked off near Laaloa Street, with eastbound lanes being contraflowed.
It's unclear what sparked the fire, but HFD had it under control just before 10 a.m.
Despite windy conditions fire crews successfully stopped this fire from jumping the highway. Only three acres were burned.
All lanes were reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
There were no structures damaged or threatened, and no injuries were reported.
