Three people were injured today after the fuel tank for a portable butane stove exploded at a camp ground on the North Shore. Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Scot Seguirant said firefighters responded to the Boy Scouts camping facility at 59-780 Pupukea Road at about 12:35 p.m. after the tank “failed.” He said about 60 people were at the camp at the time and the injured were reportedly preparing food for a meal after the cooking was completed when the tank ruptured. A woman in her 30s sustained a small cut above her eye, a girl about 6 years old had second-degree burns to her lower right leg, and a boy about 8 years old had a superficial injury to his leg, firefighters said.
