Massive Foster Village house fire displaces 8 people, Honolulu Fire Department investigating

Honolulu firefighters responded to a house fire in Foster Village Wednesday night. The first unit arrived at 10:30 p.m. and found a single-story home engulfed in flames. The fire was fully extinguished at 11:12 p.m. HFD reports two women, three men, and three children were alerted to the fire by smoke and escaped the home safely. A man sustained minor burns after he got out safely. The home did not have a working smoke alarm. HECO was notified and arrived on scene to secure power to the structure. Fire damages are estimated at $624,131 to the structure and $47,000 to its contents. The total property loss for this incident has been estimated to be $671,131. Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. Three puppies did not survive this fire. No other injuries were reported for this incident. The fire is under investigation and the cause has yet to be determined.
