A man is in critical condition after being pulled from the water at Waikiki Beach, Thursday afternoon.
Rescuers were called to the scene on a report of an unresponsive elderly swimmer in shallow waters at the beach, located in the 2400 block of Kalakaua Avenue, just after noon.
Honolulu Ocean Safety lifeguards quickly responded and brought the man back to shore where they performed CPR until paramedics with Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived and took over resuscitation efforts.
The victim, said to be a man in his 60s or 70s, was then taken to the emergency room in critical condition. He has not yet been identified.
Authorities have not said if the man was swimming alone or if he was with a group. This incident remains under investigation.
