VIDEO: A fire destroyed an Evansdale garage and damaged at least one other building Thursday night. No injuries were reported, and neighbors said no vehicles were inside the large detached garage that sat behind 941 Colleen Ave. Heat from the blaze warped vinyl siding on a neighboring home on Trail Avenue. A woman who lives on Trail said she had gone to bed for the night and was almost asleep when a family member told her about the blaze. Authorities briefly evacuated nearby homes for safety reasons. Flames could be seen for blocks away, and thick smoke flooded the neighborhood streets. “I was trying to take a few things out of my house, move my car,” said another neighbor. Evansdale and Raymond firefighters battled the garage fire and kept the flames spreading to other structures. One neighbor said the 884-square-foot garage was built only a few years ago and included a second-story deck.
