A 22-year-old man died while he was being taken to a hospital after the car he was driving crashed on Middle Road in Bettendorf, Iowa. The man was eastbound in the 800 block of Middle Road when the 1992 Cadillac Brougham he was driving went off the left side of the road and hit a traffic signal pole just after 2 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016. The man “was partially ejected from the vehicle and had to be extricated from the vehicle by Bettendorf firefighters,” according to a statement from Bettendorf spokesperson Lauran Haldeman. He was not wearing a seat belt, the statement said. The man was pronounced dead while he was being transported to a local hospital. His identity was withheld until family could be notified.
